Chinese awareness of environmental issues?

List members:

One of my advisees is taking an interest in how the Chinese articulate the issues of pollution. Could someone come forward with suggestions as to where we can look for such articulations? TV shows, speeches, novels, narrative films, government policies, or individual voices? If the sources are numerous, then we can narrow the scope of her study and research, but for now not a lot is immediately apparent except fragmented reports on

water scarcity and conservancy
smog and PM2.5 air quality monitor
increase of cancer rate
consumption of petroleum and coal
recycling and garbage
animals going extinct
unregulated food industry
excesses of skyscrapers

Thanks for any help you can give,
