Editor’s notes:

Written by one of today’s most popular Chinese writers of romance fiction, Tong Hua’s new work The Starry Night, The Starry Sea captured people’s hearts the minute it was published.

Depicting a fairy-tale love story between a miserable girl and an idealized and capable man, Tong’s new novel is clearly targeting the same young readers who enjoyed the writer’s previous popular works such as Startling by Each Step, which was successfully adapted into a TV series in 2011 that earned huge fame for the author.

Following the trend of hot films or shows bringing the original work back into the spotlight, the other new book on June’s fiction list is Nanpai Sanshu’s The Lost Tomb.

Part of a series of online novels first begun in 2006 by famous online writer Nanpai Sanshu, the book was already a big hit when it was first published in 2011. Featuring several red-hot stars such as Li Yifeng, the new online drama that premiered on June 12 has added more fuel to fire that is the novel’s popularity.

The most heavyweight book on June’s non-fiction list is Internet mogul Ma Huateng’s Internet+: Roadmap for the National Strategy. Published in late May, the book further clarifies the currently very fashionable concept of Internet+, which was adopted as a national strategy in China in March. Completed by the head of Tencent, one of today’s largest Chinese Internet companies, the book’s quick rise to the top of the list underscores its authoritative voice in this field.
