The reconstruction of the representation of inner and outer reality and of collective imagery in a civilization is a very tricky and risky task. However, if we are aware of the limits of any historical and anthropological research, it is possible to contribute from different disciplines to such an ambitious target. Several studies which analyse literary, moral and philosophical works have been successfully accomplished, and the colloquium allows an exchange of our experiences in different fields of studies, and a discussion on the results which have been reached until now. The analogous theme concerns the relation between emotions and art, imagery and self-deception.
