Call for applications:
MPhil and PhD in Chinese Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong
The Centre for China Studies (CCS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) invites applications for its MPhil and PhD programmes in Chinese Studies for 2015-2016. We welcome strong applicants with specialized research interests in a variety of areas, especially in religion, history, social-cultures, or politics and governance of China and Chinese societies.
CCS provides a platform within CUHK for interdisciplinary studies of China examined and written in English. In addition to the MPhil and PhD programmes, the CCS also hosts BA/BSSc in Contemporary China Studies and MA in Chinese Studies programmes.
Successful applicants will be supported by a monthly studentship (fellowship) covering tuition and an additional annual amount of approximately HK$172,200. Funding for research activities is also available.
The admission exercise for 2015-16 starts now and the closing date for applications is 31 January 2015. Applicants are highly encouraged to submit the applications by the fellowship* deadline on 1 December 2014.

* Applicants for the PhD programme are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme of 2015-16. Launched by the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, the Fellowship supports outstanding students from around the world to come to Hong Kong to pursue PhD studies. The Fellowship will provide an annual stipend of HK$240,000 and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 per year.
