Ag & Livestock Field Day Planned

– Chris Penrose, OSU Extension, Morgan County

Plans are set for the 17th Morgan County Ag and Livestock Field Day. I am pleased to announce that this year’s field day will be at Bill and Janice Massey’s on Popular Ridge Rd. at Tridelphia Rd., four miles west of Malta off SR 37 (watch for signs). The event will be on August 7th with the tour beginning at 6 p.m.

During the tour, we will see a heavy use pad, water developments, hay storage facility, view the pastures and discuss how cattle rotate around the farm. We will also discuss when is the best time to mow pastures and give a spotted knapweed update. Our keynote speaker for the evening will be Dr. Justin Kieffer, Clinical Veterinarian with the OSU Department of Animal Sciences. He will discuss two major issues with our cattle: pinkeye management and control, and anaplasmosis prevention and control. We will finish up the evening with ag agency updates and an annual ag outlook.

Supper will be provided courtesy of sponsors. Reservations can be made by calling the OSU Morgan County Extension office at 740-962-4854 by August 4th.
