Hillsboro Seedstock Improvement Sale Results

The Ohio Cattlemen’s Association hosted their annual Seedstock Improvement Sale on April 8 at the Union Stock Yards sale facility in Hillsboro.  A total of 37 yearling and two-year-old and older bulls were sold for a total of $74,275 to average $2,007 per head.

Two individuals tied for the top-selling bull honors.  One of these top sellers was Lot 11, an Angus bull sired by WMR Infinity 141.  He was consigned by Egner Farms Angus of Shelby, Ohio and sold for $3,500 to Gary Hummel of Shelby, Ohio.  The other top-selling bull was Lot 28, a Simmental-Angus bull sired by TLLC One Eyed Jack.  He was consigned by H & S Farms, Baltimore, Ohio and sold for $3,500 to Mark Sheehe of Francisco, Indiana.  The third high-selling bull was Lot 8, a Simmental-Angus bull sired by SDS In Force 112Y.  He was consigned by ERV-N-DEL Farm of Louisville, Ohio and sold for $2,900 to David Beery of Lancaster, Ohio.

A total of 21 Angus bulls sold for an average of $1,954/head.  Six Hybrid Simmental bulls sold for an average of $2,317/head.  Four purebred Simmental bulls averaged $1,963/head.  Two Gelbvieh bulls sold for an average of $1,875/head.  One Hereford bull sold for $2,200.  One Mainetainer bull sold for $1,950.  One Red Angus bull sold for $2,200.  One Shorthorn bull sold for $1,400.  Gene Steiner served as the auctioneer for the sale.  Special thanks to Bill and Janet Butler and the entire staff at the Union Stock Yards for hosting this event.
