Surprising findings on rural Ohio job growth
CFAES economist Mark Partridge says that since 2010, job growth in Ohio’s rural areas has been strong—nearly the same as in the state’s major cities. “As long as this economic expansion continues,” Partridge says, “rural Ohio is going to fare pretty well compared to the rest of the U.S.” Read the story.

Registration open for Stinner Summit
Registration is open for this year’s Stinner Summit, set for Friday, Oct. 12, in Delaware, north of Columbus. Hosted by CFAES’s Agroecosystems Management Program (AMP), the annual event brings together people interested in sustainable agriculture and sustainable communities; working together, they brainstorm, develop and decide projects to be funded by AMP’s Ben Stinner Endowment for Healthy Agroecosystems and Sustainable Communities.
Registration is free and open to the public. Lunch is included.

Resilient communities in a changing climate?
Aaron Wilson, atmospheric scientist with CFAES’s OSU Extension outreach arm and Ohio State’s Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center, and Jiyoung Lee, associate professor with CFAES’s Department of Food Science and Technology and Ohio State’s College of Public Health, will be among the dozen-plus speakers at Building Resilient Communities in a Changing Climate, a daylong educational forum on May 18 on Ohio State’s Columbus campus. Admission is free and open to the public, includes lunch, but you have to register by May 14.
