Farmland Leasing Update Webinar 2024

 

Planning for the Future of Your Farm

The OSU Extension office in Warren county invites you to participate in a “Planning for the Future of Your Farm” workshop on April 4, 2024. This workshop is designed to help farm families learn strategies and tools to successfully create a succession and estate plan that helps you transfer your farm’s ownership, management, and assets to the next generation. Learn how to have the crucial conversations about the future of your farm. This workshop will be held at the Warren County Fairgrounds in the Welcome Hall located at 665 N. Broadway, Lebanon OH 45036.

Workshop topics include: Developing Goals for Estate and Succession; Planning for the Transition of Control; Planning for the Unexpected; Communication and Conflict Management during Farm Transfer; Legal Tools and Strategies; Developing Your Team; Getting Your Affairs in Order; and Selecting an Attorney.

The base $85 registration fee allows 2 members from the family to attend and includes lunch, refreshments, and 1 set of course materials. Additional family members can attend for $25 per person. OSU Extension Greene County Master Gardener Volunteers present Home Vegetable Gardening on Saturday, April 13, 2024. A panel of gardening experts will discuss general gardening techniques, vegetable pests, and a close-up look at cucumbers, and zucchini.

A free vegetable packet along with information will be given to each attendee.

Virtual Wits Workout Facebook Group

Register today for a virtual Wits Workout Facebook private Facebook group!

Wits Workout is an engaging, interactive, and educational brain health program. Beginning March 3rd,  each week, you will receive an email with a brain puzzle to complete on your own; the answers will be posted in the private Facebook group, along with tips and ideas to stretch your brain and improve your memory. The Facebook group will also provide the opportunity to interact with others each week.

Sign up today for this free virtual program, which begins on March 3, 2024, with a new puzzle and topic each week for six weeks.

2024 Test your well event

Test your well water on March 19th from 5 to 7 pm at the OSU Extension office in Greene County (100 Fairground Rd, Xenia, OH).

Bring in a sample of your well water to test for:
• Nitrite/Nitrate and Total Iron – FREE, and/or
• Metals testing (copper arsenic manganese and lead) – $20, and/or
• Total coliforms/bacteria testing – $40.

To collect your well water sample properly:
• Use a clean container (empty plastic bottle) that can be sealed and holds at least 1 liter of water
• Fill your container with the first draw of water in the morning (or after 6 hours of non-use)
• Refrigerate the sample until your appointment time.

Payment by cash or check at the event. Registration is required – LIMITED SPOTS.
Your results take approximately 30 minutes. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.
