Apply to be a 4-H Camp Counselor!

All 4-H members who will be age 15 as of January 1, 2018, are invited to apply to become a 4-H Camp Counselor.  Camp Counselors are a group of teens selected to assist in the planning and conducting all 4-H camp activities as well as being responsible for campers ages 8-14, during 4-H camp.  The application includes a job description, application, Code of Conduct, reference forms, Standards of Behavior and health form.  All forms must be completed in their entirety and submitted to the Extension Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, along with the counselor fee of $80.  Incomplete forms will not be accepted.  Please read the job description for additional information.  NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

WHO CAN BE A COUNSELOR?  Any 4-H member 15 years old as of January 1, 2018.  No previous camp experience or participation required!

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES?  Counselors plan & implement all camp programs and activities; provide round-the-clock care for campers; and serve as role models for campers and each other. Clermont County 4-H Camp Counselors work hard & play hard!

WHERE & WHEN?  4-H Camp will be held June 8-12 at 4-H Camp Graham
Cloverbud Camp will be held in mid to late June at 4-H Camp Graham

WHAT IS REQUIRED?  Candidates must attend and participate in all training meetings. Failure to attend may prohibit you from counseling; all exceptions must be pre-approved.

HOW ARE COUNSELORS SELECTED? Applicants are required to attend a skills assessment and interview on Tuesday, January 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Counselors are selected based on previous leadership experiences, behavior, participation, ability to cooperate & work as a team member.  Successful applicants will be notified in late January.

Counselors are required to complete a minimum of 24 hours of training.  However, the training process is never “over.” Applicants are continually evaluated for behavior consistent with being positive role models – up to and including the time spent at camp!  Counseling is a privilege and you can be dismissed at any time for inappropriate behaviors or actions.

WHY BE A 4-H CAMP COUNSELOR? Camp counselors develop leadership skills, work-force skills, gain self-confidence; assist in personal development of younger 4-H members, and meet new friends!
