2023 Ohio Youth Poultry Clinic

REGISTER NOW FOR THE YOUTH POULTRY CLINIC!

 

The Youth Poultry Clinic is open to all youth (and adults) interested in learning more about poultry.

WHEN: March 18

WHERE: OSU ATI, Wooster, OH

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 1

COST: $20.00 per youth and $25.00 per adult.

Everyone MUST register to eat refreshments and/or lunch, whether or not attending sessions.

Topics include: Poultry Nutrition, Broiler Evaluation, Poultry Necropsy – Comparative Anatomy, Mortality Disposal, Biosecurity/HPAI, Poultry Carcass Cut-up, Q & A Corner.

 

Poultry Quality Assurance will be offered after lunch for Ohio youth needing Youth Quality Assurance certification for 2023.

Take the Leap: Career Readiness Day

Excited to share with you that several teen leaders have been busy planning and we will again be hosting “Take the Leap: Career Readiness Day” on Saturday, April 1, 2023 (9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center! This event is open to any 4-H member – ages 13 to 18!  Event cost is $10. Several Teen Leadership Council members have been planning this event and are excited to facilitate this opportunity for their peers.

 

This day is jam-packed full of opportunities for participants with some highlights listed here:

  • Learn about 4-H opportunities at the state level
  • Rotate through career preparation workshops covering topics such as resume writing, interview skills, goal setting, and more
  • Network with peers who are also interested in preparing for their future

4-H Member Can Receive a Composter

 

Here is an awesome choice.  Any 4-H member signed up for a gardening project (#671, #673, #691, #692) or the self-determined compost project (Get Started with Composting) will be eligible to receive one of 4 composters.  The winners will be selected after April 1 deadline.

Ohio 4-H Conference

The 2023 Ohio 4-H Conference will bring together 4-H volunteers and teens (age 13 and older) from across Ohio. You can participate in a variety of educational sessions that offer something for everyone! Join us as we learn from one another to make the best better for Ohio 4-H programs.

Sessions will start at 9:00 am on March 11, 2023.

The Ohio 4-H Conference will take place at the Columbus Convention Center on Saturday, March 11.

4-H Forestry Wildlife Conservation Camp

The Ohio 4-H Forestry Wildlife Conservation Camp is a fun-filled weekend learning experiences for campers in grades 7-11. The camp is held at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp located just outside of Jackson Ohio. This camp offers opportunities for campers to meet and learn from ODNR, Hocking College and OSU Extension professionals. Campers participate in hands on educational sessions on invasive species, wildlife and tree I.D., tree climbing, operating a portable wood mill, outdoor survival, hunting & trapping and much more!

Campers will also have time for fun traditional camping activities such as crafts, boating, fishing, hiking and campfire. All activities are conducted under the direct supervision of our trained counselors and 4-H staff.

Upcoming 4-H Volunteer Trainings

Just a friendly reminder that all 4-H volunteers need to attend a training each year.  These start tonight!

  • January 5 – Volunteer Training, 6:00 PM
  • January 17 – Volunteer Training, 6:00 PM
  • February 15 – New Volunteer Training, 6:00 PM
  • February 23 – Cloverbud Volunteer Training, 10:00 AM

    All trainings will be held at the Greene County Extension Office. We are unsure when the online option will be available.  Deadline for mandatory volunteer trainings
    is April 1, 2023
