Earl Harrison earned his doctorate degree in Nutritional Biochemistry from Columbia University. He became the Duhamel Professor of Human Nutrition at OSU in 2006. Dr. Harrison’s laboratory studies the basic mechanisms involved in the intestinal absorption, transport, and metabolism of dietary vitamin A and carotenoids using cell culture, animal models, and investigations in human subjects. He is particularly interested in defining the proteins involved in the uptake and metabolism of dietary carotenoids in the intestine.
