Established in 1914, the Department of Surgery at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has a long and respected tradition of excellence in clinical care, research, and education. The department is composed of eight surgical specialty divisions:

- Pediatric Surgery
- Plastic Surgery
- Surgical Oncology
- Transplantation
- Trauma, Critical Care and Burn
- Vascular Diseases and Surgery
The mission of the Department of Surgery is consistent with that of the Ohio State University College of Medicine. The mission includes the delivery of high-quality patient care, the contribution to innovations in medicine through translational research and clinical outcomes studies, and the education of medical students and postgraduate trainees.
