Boosting families’ food security: Residential Permaculture Food Garden Tour is Saturday in Columbus

“See how a low-cost, low-input food garden in the backyard of a residence can easily be adapted to provide food for food-insecure families.”

So says the description for this Saturday’s (Aug. 5) Residential Permaculture Food Garden Tour from 2 to 4 p.m. at Sunny Glen Wellness in Columbus.

Featured, among other things, will be a vegetable and herb permaculture garden using “lasagna” layering and pine needle mulch, a native plant and pollinator garden, and a small in-home seedling operation. Sunny Glen Wellness also is a certified wildlife habitat and city of Columbus GreenSpot business.

Admission is free and open to the public. The tour is part of the Ohio Sustainable Farm Tour and Workshop Series. CFAES’s Sustainable Agriculture Team is a co-presenter of the series and is the specific presenter of this tour.
