This half-day training seminar on topics in project management will be facilitated by a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). This training intends to identify criteria for project management success, to evaluate current project management practices and techniques, and to give postdocs techniques and tools to help reach their project goals.
The agenda includes:
- An overview of project management
- Project management as a discipline
- The roles and responsibilities of a project manager and project team
- Using project management principles during your postdoctoral position and in future work environments
- Building a project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Developing a project schedule
- Analyzing and evaluating project performance
About the Speaker: Jay Johnson is Associate Director of Institutional Research in the Office of Strategic and Competitive Intelligence. Jay holds a B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a Masters in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University. Jay has worked for the Office of Institutional Research and Planning since May of 2009. He coordinates reviews of academic departments with the Office of Academic Affairs and the colleges. He also works with a team to implement a data governance program for the university. Prior to joining OSU, Jay was the Director of the Higher Education Information System at the Ohio Board of Regents.
