Ben Raines, Wellness Coordinator for Financial Education within the Student Life Student Wellness Center will be presenting a webinar on retirement options for postdocs. As the Financial Wellness Coordinator, Ben is responsible for management of Scarlet & Gray Financial, The Ohio State University’s nationally recognized financial education program.
This hour long webinar will begin with an overview of retirement financing with emphasis on strategies for savings for retirement. Participants will learn the basics of investing and tax deferred retirement accounts.
The remainder of the webinar will focus on the options available to postdoctoral researchers at the Ohio State University: the Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP) and the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS). Participants will learn the differences between the plans, what to consider what planning for their future, and their options after their time at Ohio State.

About the Speaker:
Ben serves as the Wellness Coordinator for Financial Education within the Student Life Student Wellness Center at The Ohio State University. He is responsible for continuous improvement and support of Scarlet & Gray Financial, the nationally recognized peer financial coaching program.
Ben received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and minor in Entrepreneurship from The Ohio State University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. Before returning to the university, Ben worked in real estate finance and completed several national service terms including stints as a college access advisor in southeastern Ohio and as a trail crew leader in Colorado, Wyoming and Arizona.
