Ready to hop into the 4-H Rabbit Project?! Join us on November 23rd to learn more about the Rabbit Project. Workshop begins at 10am at the Extension Office. No rabbits needed.

New Livestock Opportunities

Interested in participating in some statewide livestock opportunities?  These are great experiences.  Please consider joining!

Ohio 4-H Skillathon Team: The state team competes on behalf of Ohio at the National 4-H Skillathon Contest in Louisville, KY. Youth will show what they know through a variety of hands-on stations evaluating their knowledge of the goat, sheep, swine, and beef industries. The team is coached by Margo Long and Andrea Rees, 4-H Educators. Interested youth should visit the following website for guidelines and rules: https://ohio4h.org/state-skillathon-team. Ohio 4-H Livestock Judging “All-Star” Team: The state team competes on behalf of Ohio at the National Livestock Judging Contest in Louisville, KY. Youth will evaluate and place classes of goat, sheep, beef, and swine; and deliver oral reasons. The team is coached by Greg Meyer, ANR Educator. Interested youth should read the flyer available at go.osu.edu/LivestockJudging and, if interested, email Greg (meyer.213@osu.edu) with their name, email, and phone number.

Also, Clinton County has invited Greene County exhibitors to a Show and Grow Clinic.  All FFA / 4-H members, parents, and advisors are welcome!  It will take place June 23 from 11-4 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds.  Please register!  Topics that will be covered include grooming of the animal, ethics and illegal vs. legal products to use, grooming of the kids on the big day, and showmanship!  Species that will be covered include poultry, sheep, and goats.  See flyer.

Rabbit Exhibitors: Important Information!

 

Attention all new(er) rabbit exhibitors.!  There is a rabbit clinic on Saturday, March 17 starting at 9:00 in the Buckeye Room at the Extension Office.  Please attend!

  • Proper Handling and Care
  • Health & Disease Management
  • Skill-a-thon Overview

Rabbit committee volunteers will be here to answer any and all questions.
