To assist 4-H members in preparing for project judging and to provide for a positive experience, we have developed the 4-H Project Completion Requirements. The 4-H Project Completion Requirements are a useful resource for families and clubs as they prepare for county and state fair judging. The requirements outline what is needed in order for the project to be considered complete and what members are expected to bring to county and state fair judging.
A few things to note, unless otherwise specified, an Educational Display is a 3D display relating to the care, maintenance or history of the project or a specific interest related to the project. Examples of an educational display include: posters, exhibit, mobiles, single or multi-dimensional, models, games, charts, collages, kits, storyboards, puppets, costume created for project, or other creative presentations of your choice. Members should keep space in mind as they prepare their educational displays and try to keep the dimensions of their projects to approximately 24″x24.” Members should also make sure that they label each part of their display with their name, club and project name.
Individuals taking a food or nutrition project will need to prepare a nutrition portfolio. This i s a portfolio specific to the project book. The member will be responsible for bringing a 3 pronged folder that includes 8 ½” x 11” pages. The 4-Her will create a maximum of one page (one-sided only) per “activity area” or “interest area” as designated in the front of their project books. These pages could be in collage, journaling, timeline, photo, or other format that would illustrate the work and knowledge of the 4-H member. Each page could be different or could be a combination of styles allowing the youth to reflect on his/her learning experience. Additional points will not be awarded for scrapbooking style.
