On Monday, April 18, 2016, from 6-9:00 p.m., the OSU Fruit and Vegetable Safety Team will be in Southwest Ohio training produce growers and workers on good agricultural practices and food safety for the produce farm, greenhouse, and backyard gardener. The workshop focuses on preventing microbial contamination of fruit and vegetables.
The workshop presenters are extension educators from Ohio State University Extension, which is the outreach arm of The Ohio State University, College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. Participants will receive handouts and a certificate of participation as verification for their customers and markets that they’ve received GAPs training. The workshop does not provide formal certification in GAPs. That certification requires a farm audit conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture or a third-party company.
