I have been attending a conference at Leiden University, Globalising Sociolinguistics: Challenging the Anglo-Western nature of Sociolinguistics and expanding theories. The goal of the conference is “to lay bare the nature and the mechanisms related to the named bias and arrive at a more comprehensive understanding of sociolinguistic issues around the world”.
