Webinar for Association of Children’s Museums

On Wednesday, April 17, 2:00 – 3:00 PM EDT, Rita Deedrick (Director, COSI Center for Research and Evaluation) and I will lead a webinar for the Association of Children’s Museums, Museums in Service to Young Multilingual Learners: Findings from an Exploratory Project. We will share key findings from our NSF-funded project that sought to lay the groundwork for improving informal science learning experiences for preschool dual language learners (DLLs). ACM members are invited to join us to hear about what was learned from the project and how the findings may inform future practice and research.

EHE Office of Research, Innovation, and Collaboration

The College of Education and Human Ecology’s newly reorganized Office of Research, Innovation, and Collaboration (ORIC), under the leadership of our Associate Dean for Research Natasha Slesnick, PhD, is pleased to announce a new ORIC Affiliates Program. Building on the former Research Methodology Center (RMC) Affiliates Program, ORIC will be expanding the program with the goal of deepening our engagement with scholars in EHE and across Ohio State. While the program will still serve as catalyst for interactions with others who are interested in research methodology, the new program will expand this focus to include scholars with a particular affinity for working on culturally sustainable research. As a community, our ORIC Affiliates will be invited twice yearly to come together for networking, brainstorming and interdisciplinary discussion. Through these gatherings we will facilitate the formation of working groups with interest in innovative and collaborative approaches to research.

German Fulbrighters at OSU

OSU has welcomed 20 Fulbright students from Germany for a three-week seminar on diversity and inclusion in education. The seminar is being led by my T&L colleague Francis Troyan and is administered by the College of Education and Human Ecology, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of International Affairs. My family had the pleasure of being home-stay hosts for a Fulbrighter this past weekend. Berrin is pictured here, left, with Steven and Furkan, 2 other Fulbrighters who joined us for a meal and Gallery Hop.
