Dr. Patsy Lightbown, Distinguished Professor Emeritus (Applied Linguistics) at Concordia University, will give the 2012 GIS in Second Language Studies Lecture. In her talk, ‘Great Expectations’ in 2012: Revisiting the Link Between L2 Research and L2 Teaching’, Dr. Lightbown discusses whether SLA research published in recent years contains findings and implications that may have more to say about both what to teach and how to teach in the language classroom than the research she reviewed in 1985 and 2000. The lecture is Monday October 15, 2012, 4:00-5:00 pm, in the Ohio Union Cartoon Room, reception to follow. Dr. Lightbown will meet with graduate students that morning and with faculty in the midday.
