Stone Lab’s summer guest lecture series will kick off on Thursday, June 14. The topics: climate change and presumably trees.
First, Jason Cervenec of Ohio State’s Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center will give a research brief called “We All Have a Role to Play in Climate Change Education” at 7 p.m.
Then, at 8 p.m., Brent Repenning, vice president and general manager, and Mark Noark, certified arborist, both of the Kent-based Davey Tree Expert Company, will present a lecture whose title is still to be announced. But it wouldn’t be going out on a limb, so to speak, to guess that it might be on trees.
Stone Lab is CFAES’s island campus on Lake Erie, located at Put-in-Bay.
Admission to the lectures is free. But getting there requires a ferry ride or your own boat or air transportation to Put-in-Bay, and then a $6 round-trip water taxi ride from the Boardwalk Restaurant dock to the lab’s Gibraltar Island (leaving at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.). You also can watch online.
