CFAES Outstanding Seniors of 2008: Where are they now?
Do you enjoy sharing your passion for Ohio State with others? Would you be willing to show high school students what it is like to be a Buckeye? The “Experience OSU for a Day” (EOFD) Program allows prospective students to get a feel for what college is really like. These students visit CFAES frequently, and we are in need of volunteers to show these students around campus when they come to visit.
EOFD Hosts volunteer to have prospective high school students shadow them from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. for 1-2 weekdays each semester. Hosting is very flexible and can be adjusted to fit your schedule. Hosts are encouraged to take their shadow(s) to see various classrooms, the Oval, the Union, a dorm room, and to eat lunch at Parker Dairy Store (lunch is free for the host and shadow). Ohio State Class Honoraries
The honoraries are now accepting applications for the 2016-2017 academic year. The application links for each honorary can be found atwww.aosch.org, and the applications are due on Friday, January 22, 2016. The basic eligibility requirements for the honoraries are as follows:
- You may apply to one honorary only according to your class level.
- Your cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 3.0.
- You do not need to be a member of the Honors or Scholars Programs.
Sophomore Honoraries
You will be entering your second year at Ohio State and your anticipated graduation is in 2019. Mirrors and Romophos
Junior Honoraries
You will be entering your third year at Ohio State and your anticipated graduation is in 2018. Bucket & Dipper and Chimes
Senior Honoraries

Elevator Pitch Workshop
January 14 from 4:15 – 5:00pm in the Agricultural Administration Auditorium
Are you unsure about how to introduce yourself at networking events like the Career Expos? Want some help polishing your elevator pitch? Come to this workshop to learn about how to develop an elevator pitch, and get some practice giving your elevator pitch to your peers. This will be a great workshop to attend to prepare for spring semester Career Expos!
Women’s Center Wednesday, Professional Development and the Forte Foundation

Cargill Launches the 2016 Competition of the Cargill Global Scholars Program
We have deeply valued our partnership with Ohio State University over the past three years of the program and hope to continue this partnership in the program’s fourth year. As a partner university, your first and second year undergraduate students who demonstrate exemplary academic achievement, leadership potential and study in a field relevant to Cargill’s world of food, agriculture and risk management are eligible to apply.
In addition to an annual scholarship award of $2,500 for up to two years, the Cargill Global Scholars Program provides leadership development opportunities through seminars, networking events, and a one-on-one mentoring program with executives from Cargill. These enrichment activities have been designed to help foster and enhance the Cargill Global Scholars’ leadership potential and critical thinking skills, and equip them with the tools necessary for becoming global leaders and decisions makers.
Students specializing in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply: Agriculture Related Field, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Food Science, International Relations, Political Science, and Public Policy

AAEA Scholarship for ACT Members
Established by the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (NACT) in 1993 and adopted by the American Agricultural Editors’ Association (AAEA) in 2004, AAEA scholarships are awarded to outstanding members of ACT for their achievements in leadership, career-related experiences, academics and service.
Four scholarships will be awarded in 2016. The James Evans Scholarship is the top scholarship offered, in the amount of $3,000. In order to be eligible for the James Evans Scholarship, the top four applicants will be required to take part in an in-person interview during Ag Media Summit. The Summit will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, from July 23 to 27, 2016. The winner of this scholarship will be announced at the student luncheon on Monday, July 25, 2016. The three remaining finalists will each be awarded a $1,500 scholarship.
Applicants must be current members of ACT and enrolled as an undergraduate student at a university or college during the time of their application (Applicants may be graduating seniors.). Although funded by AAEA and PIF, the scholarship is available to any ACT member, regardless of his/her specific communication career path.
