The bioreserve, or retention, pond at the Olentangy River Wetland Research Park is connected to the swale system which is filled through the experimental wetlands. The pond is approximately 6 feet deep and is groundwater fed. So, if there is low water flow into the experimental wetlands and the swale dries out, the pond provides a refuge for fish, amphibians, and invertebrates that would not be able to survive lower water conditions. The pond can also be a great spot to see waterfowl and other wildlife.
