Preliminary lab 1 involved learning to set up the AEV software and the basic function calls needed to control the AEV. After the software was set up, the motors were connected to the Arduino board to test out how they function. Takeaways from this lab are that there was internal motor resistance observed for about a second or two when using the celerate command. There was a need for more guidance in how the AEV program, especially how the Arduino Sketchbook, should be set up. Although there were instructions given for the set-up process, sometimes the instructions given were still confusing, making it harder to navigate around a foreign program.
