ACEL Graduation Breakfast
On Sunday, May 8, 2016, graduating students and their families are invited to attend a breakfast hosted by ACEL Alumni. Breakfast will be served from 8-10am, so join at a time convenient for you and your guests. RSVP by emailing the number in your party to acel@osu.edu.CFAES Cultural Exploration April 30
Join CFAES faculty, staff, and students for a cultural exploration on April 30. We will travel to the National Underground Railroad Museum and Freedom Center followed by an afternoon at Jungle Jim’s International Market.

There is no cost but you must register here and provide a $5.00 seat deposit. For those on Columbus Campus you can drop it off to the front desk in room 100 of the Agricultural Administration Building. For Wooster Campus you can drop it off in room 128 Skou Hall. We are providing transportation from Wooster to Columbus to the Freedom Center and Jungle Jim’s.

Study Abroad

First Year Only Study Abroad
This once in a lifetime opportunity will give freshmen a first-hand experience with Nicaraguan culture, the global economy and environmental issues. Students will stay in hotels and with a Nicaraguan family for one night to explor cultural differences on a famililar, day-in-the-life level. Planned tours include food production, cultural and natural sites and animal health facilities in Nicaragua. Presentations will range from economics to the cultural significance of the environment. Ohio Pork Council Scholarship Deadline Quickly Approaching 
​COLUMBUS, OH – There are numerous scholarship opportunities available to college students interested in the pork industry. Students are reminded that applications for OPPC, OPCW and Dick Isler scholarships are due April 29.​

The Ohio Pork Council is currently offering scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1000 per individual. Students entering their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year in college are encouraged to apply. Applicants, or their parents, must be actively involved in the pork industry. Children of pork industry employees, managers and contract growers are eligible.In honor of 42 years of service to Ohio’s pork industry, as executive vice president of the Ohio Pork Council, a scholarship fund recognizes Dick Isler and provides an annual scholarship of at $1,000 to college students pursuing a degree in agriculture.

The Ohio Pork Council Women will also be offering $500 scholarships to college students in their junior year or higher. To obtain an application for these scholarships, please visit: OhioPork.org. Applications for OPPC, OPCW and Dick Isler scholarships are due April 29.

Ohio 4-H – Educational Assistants
Ohio 4-H Youth Development, is looking for 4-H Educational Assistants to work at the Ohio State Fair from July 15 through August7, 2016.

Assistants will: 1. Provide assistance in cleaning and painting of the 4-H area in the Youth Discovery Center prior to the fair’s opening. 2. Provide assistance to 4-H Assistant Superintendents in helping with set-up and conducting their respective 4-H educational activities/events. 3. Assist with daily event/activity registration. 4. Provide information on the Ohio 4-H Youth Development Program to fair visitors. 5. Assist with awards ceremonies as needed.

Summer Job in CFAES Dean’s Office
We are looking for one student worker for the summer semester (May through August – until Fall semester begins) to manage the front desk and reception area of the Dean’s suite. Flexible hours between M-F 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Great opportunity for students to get to know the leadership of our college and work closely with them.

Responsibilities include:

  • Running the reception desk of 140 Ag Admin – greeting visitors, answering questions, manning the suites main phone, etc.
  • Managing the suite’s conference rooms – 140N and 140G
  • Administrative support – various items such as scheduling, eRequests, filing, formatting letters, etc. (opportunity to learn and become approved to use OSU systems)

The Ohio Beef Council & the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association are accepting applications for the Director of Communications and Ohio Cattleman Managing Editor position.  The full-time position is responsible for all OCA internal and external communications. Internal communications consists of production of the Ohio Cattleman magazine, member e-newsletters and graphic design work for association programs.  External communications includes distribution of press releases, regular updating of association websites, and management of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.  Additional communications functions also required for the Ohio Beef Council on a limited basis. Position requires excellent writing skills and publication layout and design skills including proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
