CFAES Outstanding Seniors of 2011: Where are they now?

Outstanding Senior Award Application Available
The application form for the 2016 Outstanding Senior Award is now available at http://go.osu.edu/cfaes-outstanding-senior. This is the premier award granted to seniors in CFAES. To qualify for consideration, applicants must have a 3.00 cumulative GPA at the time of application and be graduating during the 2016 calendar year. Selections are made based on the applicant’s record of scholarship, leadership, professional and personal growth and involvement in the community, both within OSU and beyond. The deadline for applications is December 16. All applications will be reviewed in January. A group of students will be selected, from all who apply, to interview with the selection committee in February. The group of Outstanding Seniors will be recognized at the CFAES Recognition Program on April 7, 2016. Contact Dr. Marilyn Trefz (.2) should you have questions.

Industry Cluster Program
Have you considered participating in the Industry Clusters Program for 2016-17?  Do you have an interest in the fields of:  Business Analytics, Consulting, Consumer Packaged Goods, Energy & Sustainability, Health Care, Middle Market, Manufacturing or new for 2016 Retail? If so, check out the following information: There is a wealth of information for you to learn about the Industry Clusters Program via our website: www.fisher.osu.edu/clusters. Or attend an information session to hear from faculty and current Industry Cluster students on the value of participating in the Industry Clusters Program on
Wed. January 13th from 5:30pm-7:00pm in the Mason Rotunda. The application is now OPEN. Apply via Industry Cluster Application 2016. The application will close January 24, 2016.

 

Scholarships

CFAES Scholarship Application Now Open
Incoming and current CFAES, ATI/Wooster students and Ohio 4-H members your care in completing this form is very important. Please carefully read and follow the instructions. If you are applying for Ohio 4-H scholarships, there will be additional drop down boxes to complete. The priority deadline for submitting this form via the web is February 15, 2016. Apply here.

National FFA Scholarship
Students will access the application through FFA.org.  FFA members create FFA.org accounts using anInvite Code generated by their FFA advisors.  Students who created accounts in the former Agricultural Career Network (AgCN) will sign in using those credentials. FFA members must be renewed and active on the chapter roster for advisors to issue invitations. Invite codes appear by member names on the active roster. The 2016 scholarship application must be submitted prior to 5 p.m. ESTFeb. 1, 2016. Signature Pages must be mailed postmarked no later than Feb. 8, 2016.

Turf and Ornamental Communicators Association Scholarship
The Turf and Ornamental Communicators Association will award one $2,500 fall semester scholarship (2016-2017 academic year,) to undergraduate college students pursuing a career in green industry communications such as but not limited to careers working for trade publications, newsletters or companies/marketing agencies that promote the golf course, lawn and landscape, sod and nursery/greenhouse, sports turf or maintenance industries. This application and all supplemental materials must be emailed within one PDF file and submitted no later than March 1, 2016. Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 15, 2016. ARC Starts Year Two of Scholarship Program for University Students Studying Ag Communications
The Agricultural Relations Council (ARC) is pleased to announce year two of its reinstated scholarship program for college students studying ag communications. The organization, through its foundation, will grant one, $1,500 scholarship for the 2016-2017 school year. Last year’s program had 23 applications. ARC conducted a scholarship program up until about 10 years ago, then reinstated it last year. Through the financial contributions of 2014 Hall of Fame recipients Richard Howell and Gary Myers, along with pledges from several others in the organization, ARC is now back in the scholarship business. The board is also looking at reinstating our internship program as well. A career in public relations can be satisfying and rewarding. Scholarships and internships are ways to show college students the value of pursuing jobs in this area.”
Notices of the scholarship program will be sent to universities now and January announcing the program. Students will have until March 1, 2016, to submit their applications. Apply for the Edward S. “Beanie” Drake Scholarship!
Established in 1950, the purpose of the “Beanie” Drake Scholarship is to provide funds to enable deserving students to participate in campus activities when need might otherwise make it difficult or impossible for them to do so. The scholarship is funded by donations from students and student organizations of The Ohio State University and alumni affiliated with the “Beanie” Drake Scholarship. Upon review of all applications, selected candidates will receive an individual interview from the “Beanie” Drake Scholarship Board of Directors. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of current participation and service to campus and community, leadership potential, financial need, and academic achievement.To learn more about this scholarship or to complete an application, please visit http://beanie.osu.edu/. Applications are due by December 20. American Farmers Scholarship
To help get your ag career off the ground, America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, is offering $1,500 college scholarships to high school seniors and college students pursuing ag-related degrees. Grow Ag Leaders will again be awarding more than $500,000 in scholarships across 40 states this spring. The National FFA Organization administers the program, but you do not have to be an FFA member to apply. For more information, visit here.
