2022 4-H Calendar Highlights

This is not a complete 2022 Calendar.

The complete calendar will be released in January.

 

January

  • Early January – 2021 4-H families will be mailed a 2022 Family Guide by the State 4-H Office
  • The Extension Office will notify organizational volunteers when enrollment materials are available.

31        2021 Club Year End Paperwork Survey Due, sent directly to organizational volunteers in January. Submission is required to get 2022 enrollment materials.

February 1 – March 1

Volunteers returning from 2021 must complete Mandatory Volunteer Training during this time frame. More details will be sent in mid-late January. There will be two options for completing:

  • Complete Required Online Modules in Scarlet Canvas
  • Complete In-Person Training Session on February 21, 6-8 p.m. at the Extension Office. Only one session will be offered. This training will require pre-registration and will be first-come, first-serve.

This survey will be sent directly to organizational volunteers in early to mid-January and is due January 31. The year-end paperwork survey will be required to receive enrollment materials. 

2022 Market Steer Weigh In Details – December 13

2022 Market Steer Weigh-In is scheduled for December 13, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Muskingum Livestock Auction Company. Junior Fair Livestock Committee is asking that you complete the registration form for each steer BEFORE weigh-in. It is available online: go.osu.edu/musksteer. The form must be completed by December 12 at 11:59 p.m.

Youth enrolled in a 2021 market steer or feeder calf project who are eligible to exhibit in 2022 will also receive a letter in the mail in November.

Youth Opportunities Applications Available – Deadline November 15

There are great leadership opportunities available for teens involved in 4-H!  

Applications for the 2022 program year are due to the Extension Office by November 15 at 11:59 p.m. 

Opportunities include:

New 4-H Volunteer Application Now Available! Due January 31

Interested in serving as a club or committee volunteer starting in 2022? Adults who desire to volunteer their time, energy and talents to Ohio State University Extension and the Muskingum County 4-H program as a club or committee volunteer must successfully complete the volunteer selection process. Volunteer applicants must have approval from the club organizational volunteer or committee president to be considered.Upon completion of the application, the club organizational volunteer will receive an e-mail asking them to confirm the applicant as a potential volunteer for their club. Jamie will contact committee presidents directly if there is any question about volunteer applicants! 

This year, the application can be completed and submitted entirely online! The required interview will take place via Zoom and the orientation session will be in person. 

 Find details and the application on our website: https://muskingum.osu.edu/join. Completed Volunteer Applications MUST be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on January 31, 2022 to begin the selection process in 2022. All steps of the volunteer selection process must be completed by March 1, 2022 to begin volunteer service in 2022. 

Reminder to organizational volunteers:All 4-H clubs must have at least two approved volunteers by March 1, 2022. Clubs that do not have two approved volunteers on March 1 will not be considered active for the 2022 program year.

Muskingum County 4-H Scholarship Application Now Available! Due January 31

Since 2015, the Muskingum County 4-H Committee has awarded scholarships to recognize 4-H members and alumni for their achievements. In 2022, a minimum of two $500 scholarships will be awarded and announced during Muskingum County 4-H Week. 

Applicants must: 

  • be a current 4-H Member or alumni of Muskingum County 4-H; 
  • be a current year (2022) graduating high school senior, or equivalent of a college freshman or sophomore (proof of equivalent in a home school program by the end of the current school year is acceptable); 
  • be active in 4-H for the previous three (3) consecutive years; 
  • have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on the most recently completed semester; 
  • plan to attend (or currently attending) any post-secondary educational institution.

Applications are due January 31. 

4-H Committee Seeking New Members for 2022

Any current 4-H volunteers interested in applying to become a member of the Muskingum County 4-H Committee should submit a completed application by November 15 at 11:59 p.m. 

The 4-H Committee serves as an advisory committee for the 4-H program and assists with county-wide 4-H programs like the 4-H Kick-Off, Volunteer Recognition Banquet, Older Youth Opportunities Interviews and Club/Committee Audits. 

The committee meets five times per year, on the first Monday of February, April, July, October and December. 

Adult members apply and are selected to serve a three-year term by the committee members. Adult members are selected to represent a geographical area of the county based upon where their 4-H club meets. Three at-large members are also selected from any area of the county. 

Youth members are Junior Leaders elected to a one-year term by the club’s membership.
