Junior Fair Market Rabbit Registration – July 20, 6-8 p.m.

Market Rabbit Registration is scheduled for July 20 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Rabbit Barn at the fairgrounds. There is no paperwork for youth to complete and bring with them to registration. Exhibitors will be responsible for completing the online entry process using the appropriate tattoos by July 25. Back-up rabbits must be tattooed and registered by the deadline.   • Note: Exhibitors entering a Pen of Three Fryers will add all animals to the same entry – the entry form will require 6 market rabbits to be entered. If you have less than six rabbits to register, add additional rabbits with a tattoo of 0.

Members must have registered a breeding rabbit by the June 30 deadline to be eligible. All market rabbits must attend Market Rabbit Registration to be tattooed and registered, no exceptions! Back-up rabbits must be tattooed and registered by the deadline.

Muskingum County Cattlemen’s Association 4-H Camp Grant – Due August 1

The Muskingum County Cattlemen’s Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce they are offering 4-H Camp Ohio grants for 4-Hers enrolled as Beef exhibitors for the 2023 Muskingum County Fair. The grants will be reimbursement for their camp fees and will be paid directly to the family. We are offering a maximum of 10 $100 grants.

The requirements are as follows:
Complete application below in it’s entirety by August 1st, 2023.

The Board will review all applications and select a maximum of 10 recipients. Recipients will be contacted by phone or email to verify mailing address, and a check will be mailed out.

They will verify that you attended 4-H Camp Ohio in 2023 and that you are enrolled as a beef exhibitor for 2023 with the Muskingum County Extension Office.

Muskingum County Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship Application – Due August 1

The Muskingum County Cattlemen’s Association scholarships are intended for 4-H and FFA members who are currently taking beef cattle projects in Muskingum County. $2,000 total funds are available. Awards will be distributed to a maximum of 4 applicants at $500 per applicant by the Muskingum County Cattlemen’s Association.

The applicant must:
1. Be a resident of Muskingum County or have attended a school in Muskingum County.
2. Be currently a member of a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter in Muskingum County.
3. Be currently taking a market steer, beef breeding, or feeder calf project in 4-H or FFA.
4. Be a high school graduate.
5. Be either planning to enroll in Fall 2023 or currently enrolled in an accredited four year or two year
college or technical institute.
6. Complete and submit the application by August 1, 2023.

The scholarship will be awarded on the following criteria: beef projects and activities, leadership activities, grade point average, and essay. Previous winners are not eligible. Winners will be recognized at the barn meeting on Sunday morning of the Muskingum County Fair.

Cloverbud Night with Junior Leaders – July 17

The Muskingum County 4-H Junior Leaders will be hosting  Cloverbud Night on July 17 from 6-8 p.m. at the Veteran’s Building on the Fairgrounds. Cloverbuds can drop in during this time frame – stay a few minutes, or the whole time!

Cloverbuds are invited to attend to participate in the following activities:

One on One Interview with a 4-H Teen Leader

Cloverbuds are invited to bring an item to share with a member of Junior Leaders. This will be a one-on-one show and tell opportunity for Cloverbuds to practice interview skills.

Sample Items:

  • Poster display, scrapbook, etc. on a topic of interest to the Cloverbud
  • Collection (baseball cards, toys, etc.)
  • Other item they love!

There may be additional activities.

Music will be playing throughout the evening. Each Cloverbud will receive a small 4-H gift for participating!

Royalty & Ambassador Applications Now Available! Due June 30

2023 Royalty and Ambassador applications are now available on our website on the Junior Fair Forms & Documents page: muskingum.osu.edu/juniorfairDeadline to apply is June 30, 11:59 p.m. 

Interviews will be held July 19 at the Veteran’s Building at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds (except Equine Ambassador, which will be held during Livestock Skillathon on July 12).

Note about Completing Applications

Members applying for teen opportunities should answer questions in their own words. Adult helpers can assist, but individuals who are selecting youth for these leadership roles prefer to hear directly from the youth. Points may be deducted during selection if those evaluating responses do not think they are the youth’s own work.

Muskingum County 4-H Apparel Now on Sale through July 31!

We are so excited to be selling Muskingum County 4-H apparel through a partnership with Stockyard Bling! All profits from the sale will go to the Muskingum County 4-H Committee to help support our county program.

Apparel can be ordered in June or July. Items can be direct shipped to the buyer’s house (buyer pays shipping cost), or picked up as follows:

  • June Orders – Will ship the first week of July, or can be picked up at Muskingum Livestock in the Restaurant July 5 or July 12, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • July Orders – Will ship the first week of August, or can be picked up at Muskingum Livestock in the Restaurant August 9, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. OR at during fair week at the Stockyard Bling Embroidery Trailer.

Shirts are available in youth and adult sizes in two colors, Heather Gray or Kelly Green.
