Junior Camp Reminders – June 10-12
Junior Camp is from June 10-12. Registered campers will receive updates one week prior to camp.
Cloverbud Camp Reminders – June 25
Cloverbud Camp is June 25. Pre-registered campers will receive full registration details on May 28. Camper Registrations & Payment due June 3.
4-H Public Speaking Contests – CANCELLED
Due to limited interest, Speaking Contests will not be held in 2021.
Still Project Judging Reminders
Youth must attend a county level judging for still projects this year. There will be no advisor grade options this year. More information can be found on page 5 of the 2021 Muskingum County 4-H Owner’s Manual.
Options are:
- Early Judging by appointment on June 22 or 30. Register online for Early Judging.
- Still Project Judging on July 7 at the Veteran’s Building at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds
Writing Project Portfolios Due – June 30
Project #588 The Writer in You: Writing portfolio must be submitted to the Extension Office by June 30 at 4:30 p.m. to be reviewed by the judge. Failure to do so will result in loss of at least one letter grade at judging. Members will not receive their portfolio back before judging. Portfolios will be brought to judging by the judge.
Portfolios should be in a notebook or folder and include a cover sheet with the youth’s name, 4-H age and include the items listed on page 40 of the project book (Activity 2-10). Members must bring their completed project book and an educational display to Still Project Judging. More information can be found on page 11 of the 2021 Muskingum County 4-H Owner’s Manual.
JUNIOR FAIR
Lamb & Goat Registration – June 7, 4-7 p.m.
All Market Lamb & Goat project participants must attend Lamb & Goat Registration to have their animals tagged and weighed on June 7 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Hog Barn on the fairgrounds. All animals must go across the scales. There is no paperwork for youth to complete and bring with them to weigh-in. After registration, exhibitors will be responsible for completing the online entry process using the Fair Ear Tag # by June 15. For entry help: go.osu.edu/entryhelp.
All lambs & goats exhibited at the Muskingum County Fair are required to have a scrapie ID prior to exhibiting at the fair. All market lambs & goats must have a scrapie tag in their ear prior to arriving at Lamb & Goat Registration. If a lamb or goat does not have a scrapie ID at weigh-in, the animal will be dismissed. Ear tag IDs must be in the animal’s ear.
Fair Entry Notes:
- If entering the same animal in more than one class, an entry is required for each class. Example: A market goat must be entered in the Market Wether AND Bred & Owned Market Wether class if it will be exhibited in both classes.
- Carcass Lamb: The Muskingum County Sheep Producers Improvement Association is sponsoring a carcass lamb activity for Junior Fair exhibitors this year. To register, youth must check yes when completing their fair entries.
Breeding Rabbit Registration – June 7, 6-8 p.m.
Breeding Rabbit Registration is scheduled for June 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Rabbit Barn on the fairgrounds. All rabbits must be tattooed at that time if they do not already have a tattoo. If rabbits are already tattooed, they do not need to attend registration. There is no paperwork for youth to complete and bring with them to registration. Exhibitors will be responsible for completing the online entry process using the appropriate tattoos by June 15. Back-up rabbits must be tattooed and registered by the deadline. Livestock Quality Assurance Deadline Reminder – June 15
The deadline for youth exhibitors to receive their Quality Assurance Certification in order to exhibit at the Muskingum County Fair is June 15. Youth will need to complete the YQCA online course if they do not have their certification yet. Details: Last Quality Assurance Option.
Horse Education Program Deadline Reminder – June 15
The deadline for youth exhibitors to complete their Horse Education Program requirement in order to exhibit at the Muskingum County Fair is June 15. Youth will need to complete the Ohio 4-H EQUISTEP online program if they do not have their certification yet. Details: Final Horse Education Option.
Junior Fair Entry Deadline – June 15 for everything but Market Rabbits and Feeder Calves
All 4-H and FFA youth must complete livestock entries in order to be eligible to exhibit at the Muskingum County Fair.

Pullorum Testing – June 26, 9-12:30 p.m.
Poultry Committee member Peggy Anderson will be at the Poultry Barn on the fairgrounds June 26, 9-12:30 p.m. for Pullorum Testing.
Exhibitors can purchase birds from a hatchery of choice, but are required to provide proof of Pullorum-free poultry at check-in. Exhibitors must monitor ODA/State Veterinarian website for shipping/travel related bans. Accepted paperwork includes the bill of sale from a Pullorum-free flock or copy of a Pullorum test. Waterfowl are not required to have Pullorum testing.

OHIO STATE FAIR
PAS Show Reminder
Muskingum County youth interested in registering for the PAS Show (State Fair Horse Qualifier) should register online by June 15 at 11:59 p.m. More information can be found in the 2021 Horse Project Information Letter. State Fair entry deadline for horses is July 7.
Ohio State Fair Livestock and Dog Show Entry Deadline
Youth wishing to show livestock (other than horses) or dogs at the Ohio State Fair must complete the entry process by June 20. For more information, visit the Ohio State Fair’s website.
