Community Service Opportunity

Thanks to Janet Batteiger of Country Cowboys 4-H Club for sharing this volunteer opportunity!

The Zanesville VFW Post is looking for assistance setting flags on the graves of Veteran’s at Woodlawn Cemetery on Saturday, May 26.

According to Janet, “Fewer and fewer people come out every year to help. When many people are doing it, it goes quickly.  Unfortunately less people have been showing up these past years causing more groups to opt out of participating because ‘it takes too long.’ I know from experience, many hands makes it go much quicker.”

If you are interested in helping, plan to be at the VFW at 1318 Putnam Ave, Zanesville at 8AM on the 26th. The serve refreshments before starting!

Questions can be directed to Cal, Stephanie,or Jen at the VFW 740-452-4491.

Are You Leasing a Horse?

Due to phone calls we have received about horse lease paperwork, we felt a reminder was appropriate and necessary:

Youth who lease horses are required to turn in a copy of the lease to the Extension Office by our May 15, 2018 deadline. This year’s horse lease information may look different. OSU Extension can only provide guidelines of what should be included in your horse lease and not provide a template for you to use. This means you will have to write or type your own lease based on the suggested guidelines. You can download the guidelines from our website under 4-H Youth Development>Junior Fair. Look under Stall Sheets and Registration Forms.

Again, Horse leases and registration paperwork for leased horses are due May 15, 4:30 p.m! If you have any questions, please contact the 4-H Office: 740-454-0144.

Out of County Quality Assurance Dates

Reminder: Livestock Quality Assurance (LQA) Certification is required for all youth exhibiting a market animal, dairy cow project or  dairy goat at the Muskingum County Fair. All in-county dates have passed. Youth still needing Quality Assurance certification can attend an out-of-county session. Be sure to sign in.

We recommend contacting the County Office to insure that all dates and times are correct.
