Growing Local Foods: Urban Farms & Gardens Summer Tour Series Mondays at 6pm, Youngstown, Ohio

Join OSU Extension staff and trained Master Gardener Volunteers this summer to learn about growing practices, helpful tips, soils, organic production and more. Bring a lawn chair for seating and a notepad. Don’t forget your weeds, disease  and insects—we’ll diagnose what’s going on in your garden, too!

-David Marrison, OSU Extension—Join us as David shares ways to get through the tough years of farming, including using the tax laws to the benefit of your farming operation. David will share insight into the current farm economy and share tax information you can share with your tax preparer. Plan now before the year is up!

Leaf Casting for MGV’s Only

Join your fellow MGVs for a fun activity! We’ll be making leaf castings.

Everyone who attends will make one for themselves, then make an additional one for events and activities of OSU Extension.

WHAT TO BRING—$10 for supplies; disposable gloves; trash bags and leaves—elephant ears, hosta, dock, canna—anything over 10” across with lots of veins!

Fall Pruning Clinic in Youngstown

What gets pruned in the fall? Anything? Everything? Nothing??

Join Eric Barrett for a discussion on proper pruning techniques
and tools to keep your landscape looking its best.

Tuesday, September 20th – 9am-11am
• We’ll take a Walk‐About around the gardens to try your skills at
pruning. (dress appropriate and bring a chair if needed)
• Learn to prune for maximum flower potential, to minimize
disease, regenerate shrubs and to make great shapes in your
landscape.
• Rain date will be Tuesday, September 27th.
• Horticultural publications will be for sale to assist you with your
landscape.
