Question of the Week

Each week we will have a different “Question of the Week” for our students and alumni to answer. Responses will be shared on the blog each Thursday.

Week #6: What do you have planned for winter break?

Veronica Chalfin, Junior
Over winter break, I have a lot of plans to spend time with my family and friends! It’s been a while since I’ve been home for such a long period of time and I’m really looking forward to simply having time to relax and enjoy the holiday season.

“Question of the Week” will return in January! Enjoy your winter break!

Week #6: What is your favorite place to study for finals?

Haley Duff, Junior
I love studying in Orton Library. It’s completely silent and has big chairs and tables. I love how old everything is and how the floor creaks when people come in. It doesn’t have the best late night hours, but when I’m there I feel like I’m productive enough and don’t need to stay up really late!

Megan Besancon, Freshman
My favorite place to study is in the laundry room in the basement of my dorm. It is usually empty and the rhythm of the machines and the smell of detergent relaxes me and helps me focus.

Jordan Bonham, Junior
My favorite place to study is in the comfort of my own room at my desk. It is quiet and I can focus on my task at hand to be efficient.

Week #5: What are your plans for the 5 day weekend that you will have over the Thanksgiving holiday?

Krysti Dubler, Senior
I am headed home Tuesday through Friday night to spend time with family and eat a TON of great food. Friday night I’ll drive back to Columbus and beat all the traffic for the Ohio State vs. Michigan game on Saturday! Go Bucks!

Veronica Chalfin, Junior
I’m going to be spending as much time with my family as possible! I am also going to head out on Thursday night and venture into the craziness that is Black Friday shopping.

Week #3: What general education course would you recommend to other CFAES students?

Megan Besancon, freshman
I would recommend taking Classical Mythology 2220 with Dr. Lopez-Ruiz. This course counts as Literature credit and as a Global Studies credit. I really enjoy this class because I love Greek mythology and I’ve learned a lot about the mythologies of other ancient cultures.

Krysti Dubler, senior
African American History 1222

Week #2: What is your favorite fall event at Ohio State?

Krysti Dubler, senior
I love attending the Back 2 School Bash at the beginning of the fall semester each year. It is a great way to catch up with friends you didn’t see over the summer and invite new first year students to join you in clubs and organizations within CFAES. The carnival games and food are great too!

Veronica Chalfin, junior
My favorite fall campus event is the CFAES Pumpkin Carving Social. It’s so fun to see all of the student organization get so fired up about having the best pumpkin carving. It’s a great way to get a lot of us together and just have a fun time.

Week #1: What is your favorite thing about campus in the fall?

Kayla Starlin, Junior
There’s nothing better than an early morning walk to class over the Olentangy River. The oranges, yellows and reds alongside the crisp water is picturesque. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll pass through when there’s a breeze just strong enough to knock the leaves free from the branches. It’s gorgeous!
