Checkmate

Project Statement

I created pieces that have to do with my clique, the nerds. My nerd chess pieces are based on stereotypes from 80s movies. The stereotypes that were the idea behind most of my pieces are based on 80s movies, but also remembering the original pieces and having the new pieces I created still have something to do with the original pieces. My goal was to create pieces that anyone could be able to tell what they are and what clique they exactly belong to using silhouettes, negative space, and color.

Reflection

What I learned during the project was about what materials were best for my pieces and the material was not that good. I learned how to play chess, the meaning behind each piece in chess, and the way they can move while playing the game of chess. I also was able to teach people how to play three-way chess, while also explaining the concept behind the pieces I created on the board.
