Swine Skillathon – Feed Sample Studying Update

There is a new Swine Resource Handbook this year, with an expanded list of feeds. After consulting with local feed suppliers, I’ve learned that many of the new feeds listed many are not sold or requested locally, and those that look very similar to others that are already part of the kits we use for Skillathon.

Youth in the 11-12 year old age division (4-H Age) should study feed samples this year.

To see the feed samples included in the kit, visit the study guide: Swine Feed Sample ID.pdf

Stock the Trailer Club Contest

This year, Junior Fair Board is hosting a Stock the Trailer Club Contest to encourage donations from clubs!

How to participate:

  • Clubs will receive one (1) ticket into a drawing for each case of water (24 bottles) OR 12 cans (15 oz.) of food donated. 12 cans is the standard size of a cardboard tray at most local grocery stores!
  • Clubs are responsible for counting their cases of water/cans of food before reporting to the Junior Fair Office to turn them in. Junior Fair Board coordinators/members will help get your food on the truck/trailer to be counted!
  • Items must be turned in during fair week by 12 noon on Friday.

Two winning clubs will be drawn. Winning clubs will have their choice of a $100 gift card from any of the following:

  • Rural King
  • Tractor Supply Company
  • Walmart
  • Domino’s Pizza
