2023 Honor Clubs

Each year, 4-H clubs are asked to report their club, county and state level activities on the 4-H Club Year End Survey. Each activity is worth one point. Clubs with a score in the top 20% will be recognized as Honor Clubs.

Health Department Nicotine Use Awareness Project for Teens

Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department is seeking local teens to be part of a social media campaign to raise awareness of nicotine use in our teen population.

Two meetings will take place at the Health Department, 205 N. 7th Street, Zanesville:

  • March 12, 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. – Brainstorming about the Campaign
  • March 19, 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. – Recording Video Reels

Snacks will be provided. Teens need to be able to participate in both days to volunteer for the project. Parents will need to sign a release form, which will be sent before the meetings take place.

Pack & Harness Goats – Project Enrollment Clarification

Typically, Ohio 4-H does not allow any livestock animals to be used for more than one project. However, after receiving feedback from counties and conferring with the State 4-H Office, the pack/harness goat will be an exception moving forward.

Youth members taking any of the below goat projects can also use the same animal for pack/harness goat projects:

  • 135BD Breeding—Dairy Goats
  • 135BM Breeding—Meat Goats
  • 135F Fiber Goats
  • 135M Market—Dairy, Meat, Cross Goats
  • 135PY Pygmy Goats
  • 135C Companion—Pet Goats (please note that companion goats DO NOT exhibit at the fair)

2024 Lamb & Wool Ambassador Application

The Muskingum County Sheep Producers Improvement Association is sponsoring a Lamb and Wool Senior Ambassador and a Lamb and Wool Junior Ambassador Contest for 2024. Download the Application

All persons who are 14-21 years of age as of 1/1/2024 with a 4-H/FFA sheep/lamb project or a sheep-related background are eligible for Senior Ambassador. All persons who are 9-13 years of age as of 1/1/2024 with a 4-H/FFA sheep/lamb project or have a sheep-related background are eligible for Junior Ambassador.

Applications must be received by Feb.28th, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time.

 

Interviews will be held on March 4th, 2024 in the evening at the Muskingum County Extension Office.  Each applicant will be contacted with time and location information. Winners will be announced at our annual banquet on March 18, 2024 held in the Veteran’s Building at the Fairgrounds.

 

The Senior and Junior Ambassador duties will be to assist with promotional and educational events of the Muskingum County Sheep Producers Association at the state and local levels. A suggested list of possible activities and events will be provided and coordinated with the MCSPIA. 4-H Enrollment Opened February 15! Deadline April 1

4-H enrollment is now open! The enrollment deadline is April 1.

Family Enrollment Instructions

1) If NO members of your family have been enrolled in 4-H before, download the New Family Enrollment Guide.

2) Download the 4-H Family Re-Enrollment Guide if your family has previously used 4-H Online to enroll youth and/or approved adult 4-H volunteers.

Important: 4-H Family Update e-mails and communications from the office are sent to e-mail addresses entered in the 4-H Online enrollment system. Please use e-mail addresses that are checked regularly so you receive the most up to date information.

4-H Spirit Day – Friday, March 8

Let people know you love 4-H by wearing your 4-H gear to school, work and other activities on Friday, March 8! 

Help spread the word about 4-H in Muskingum County – the best way for us to grow our program is through your promotional efforts!

Club Facebook Photo Challenge

Clubs can submit one photo per club that includes members demonstrating this year’s theme, “Find Your Spark in 4-H!”

Photos must be e-mailed to mcconnell.210@osu.edu by March 1 at 4:30 p.m. to be included in the contest.

Photos will be posted in an album on the Ohio State – Muskingum County Extension Facebook Page. A prize of $20 will be awarded to the club photo that receives the most likes during 4-H Week!
