Greetings 4-H Families!

Welcome back if you haven’t checked in with our site lately! You may see some thing have moved around, so if you’re looking for information & can’t find it – please let us know!

Here’s a rundown of information…

  1. 4-H Online is open for 4-H VOLUNTEERS to register [NOT YOUTH MEMBERS]. We will open the 4-H member enrollment on January 1st. Volunteers: if you don’t remember your user email address or password, please call the office! DO NOT re-create a profile – we can recover this information for you! Myself or Emily is happy to help!
  2. 2023 4-H Calendars are posted on the county site as well as this site on the 2023 4-H Calendar page. We will work to keep these updated as more dates become available. I will also have a typed-document of those dates available soon.
  3. Feel free to check out our “JOIN 4-H” tab for a new way to look at old information, helpful documents for using 4-H Online, view the upcoming project books, and check out some cool videos.
  4. My favorite update so far this year will be Henry County 4-H will be coming to your fingertips! As a part of the 4-H NOW App, Henry County 4-H information will be accessible soon enough. Camp Palmer

Do you ever wonder what [or who] keeps Camp Palmer going all year long? Do you know how many lives Camp Palmer impacts year after year?

Each year the 4-H Camp Palmer Staff shares their year-end report highlighting their year at camp. Take a few minutes to read the 75th year at 4-H Camp Palmer! Check out a new camp that’s coming in 2023 and check out Camp’s WISH LIST for 2023.

Consider giving a Christmas Donation to Camp Palmer so we can continue to make Camp a success – Check out the Wishlist for 2023 section!

Donation inquiries can be directed to Bill Goodson or Kristy Helberg – their contact information is enclosed in the Annual Report Booklet.

Consider your end of year giving…

Greetings 4-H Supporters,

It has been another trying year for the non-profit organizations, although 4-H has been able to regain some semblance of order.  In summer of 2022, the 4-H members were able to show their projects at the Henry County Fair.  We were able to have our annual 4-H Endowment Dinner and honored several 4-H members for their accomplishments.  This year we will be having our annual dinner/scholarship recognition on April 22nd; be sure to mark your calendar.

Those receiving awards this past year were as follows:

Bob Cole Scholarship: Kalleigh Fry

Henry County 4-H Endowment Scholarships;

Lucy Jones, Justine Eis, Taylor Dietrich and Will Seedorf

Henry County Horse Council Scholarship: Katie Gerken

As a committee, we have reviewed the budget for the 2022/2023 year for expenditures of the interest funds and approved it this fall.  Each fall our committee evaluates the budget and add or subtract to it as we review each appropriation and its’ need.  This past year the committee funded 3 large fans to be installed in the Floral Hall/4-H Booth Building at the Henry County Fairgrounds in addition to the continued programs that the interest funds.  We will have about $13,000.00 in interest from the Ohio 4-H Foundation Fund that we have at OSU.  We have included a copy of the current years’ budget for your perusal.

On behalf of the Henry County 4-H Endowment Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have supported our endowment fund through your generous gifts.  Presently, our endowment has over $240,000.00 invested through the Ohio 4-H Foundation with a market value of nearly $300,000.00 (the amount that the interest received is based upon).  In addition, we have over $18,000.00 invested through the Henry County Community Foundation.  For those who have not supported the endowment fund in the past, please consider including the Henry County 4-H Endowment Fund in your charitable contributions.

Programs funded through the county’s Endowment Fund help to expand opportunities for 4-H youth, adult volunteers, and alumni.  Ongoing programs include mini-grants to 4-H clubs for special projects, training of volunteers and teens, livestock teaching kits, 4-H Family Day, and partial scholarships to camp counselors.

As you consider your potential gift to the Henry County 4-H Endowment, please keep in mind the nearly 1000 4-H members and the countless adult volunteers that help to make this program such a success. Please contact the 4-H office today if you wish to give to the Henry County 4-H Endowment Fund.

 Respectfully yours,

Douglas A. Burgei, D.V.M., Chair & Morgan Parcher, 4-H Extension Educator
