Cloverbud Engineering Adventure!

Calling Cloverbud Advisors!

Ohio 4-H has released a cool, new program for the 2023 season. It’s called CLOVERBUD ENGINEERING ADVENTURE! The 2023 theme is: “TRAVEL THROUGH TIME!

This program is replacing the previous program called “Cloverbot Challenge.” But there are lots of ways to get your cloverbuds, excited, learning & engaged! And before you panic that it’s STEM-related, know that it is a great lesson/idea-starter for your kids to take a look back in history too!

Cloverbuds are challenged to explore the past & imagine the future! Encourage your cloverbuds to discuss historic events that shaped our present – review trends in clothing, transportation, housing and more!

The Challenge is to design a model that includes moving parts. It could be a timeline, a machine, or a specific “thing” from a different time period. Maybe that’s a futuristic vehicle, or a horse & buggy. Maybe it is a futuristic house vs. an old log cabin. The actual challenge has more intricate “rules” but if you’re using this within your club, get creative! As a cloverbud advisor, you can use this Challenge as a FANTASTIC idea starter to encourage learning with your kiddos!

*You are NOT required to participate in this program – but you’re welcome to use the planning guide & idea starters to build a plan for your meetings! Maybe this would be a great addition to the Cloverbud Booth at fair! The sky is the limit & the possibilities are endless!

Ohio Facts for Kids!

The 4th “H” of 4-H!

We pledge our “health to better living” but do we actually practice it? The 4th H Club Challenge encourages Ohio 4-H Clubs to learn, practice, and advocate for healthy choices and behaviors at 4-H club meetings. Practicing healthy habits and choices now has lifelong effects on the health of youth.

Each club that completesthe challenge before the deadline will enter into the $100 voucher drawing for their region to use for their club (project books, educational tools, etc.)! Each region will have a winner. The first 25 clubs that complete the registration and pre-survey will get an extra entry. How does it work? Apply 3 healthy practices per meeting at 6 or more 4-H clubs/meetings from April – December 2023.

  1. Register and complete pre-survey.
  2. Record the dates and activities in the 4th H tracker link. (the tracker link will be provided after registering)
  3. Share a picture of your club doing a healthy practice on social media. Be sure to include the official hashtag #Ohio4thHClubChallenge.
  4. Submit all activities to the tracker link by December 31st, 2023.

Welcome back!

Welcome to 4-H News & Notes folks!

The purpose of this blog site is to keep information at our 4-H families’ fingertips. This blog pushes out a Friday email with anything that has been added to the site within the last week.

Instead of having a papernewsletter that’s too many pages to read, we give you more “bite-sized” information to digest from week-to-week.

We’ll be adding and updating more infomation to help guide our 4-H families through their projects and pre-fair judging. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have! Our office number is: 419-592-0806.

Welcome, again, to Henry County 4-H!

4-H Livestock Fun with Numbers!

I had a community member ask me for this information & so I figured I would share with the group! I put a small chart together outlining the progression of 4-H Livestock projects for the last 5 years. I LOVE charts & numbers and hope you can appreciate them too!
