4-H is a non-formal educational, youth development program reaching 240,000 youth in Ohio. With 23 clubs from which to chose from, 800 youth enrolled in Henry County 4-H in 2022. Ohio 4-H saw an increase of 3% at the club member level with a 17% increase at the Cloverbud level.
All 4-H programs focus on active involvement and quality experiences which stimulate lifelong learning of values and skills. 4-H members learn valuable lessons in leadership, communication, and collaboration while increasing their knowledge in math, science, technology and a variety of other topics.
Ohio 4-H membership is based on a child’s age AND grade as of January 1 of the current calendar year. Our Cloverbud Program is for youth 5 years of age AND enrolled in Kindergarten. Eligibility for participation in 4-H projects and competitive events begins when a child is age 8 years old AND in the 3rd grade. Any youth is age 9 or above is eligible for project membership, regardless of age level. Membership requires enrollment in an authorized Ohio 4-H club or group under the direction of an OSU Extension professional or an approved adult volunteer. A youth’s membership ends December 31st of the year he or she turns 19.
Henry County 4-H completes enrollment through an online system called 4-HOnline. New enrollments will open the First week of January and will be accepted through March 15th. For more 4-H-related Resources, please see below – our enrollment resources will become available at the beginning of January.
But what if I’ve never been a part of Henry County 4-H? – That’s ok! Many of our clubs begin meeting in January/February of the new year. We encourage new families to use our 4-H Club List to reach out to an advisor to express your interest! Our club advisors are excited to have you join our program and should be able to let you know when their club meetings will begin.
