Explore the Outdoors with Adams County 4-H!

Join us as we Explore Adams! Adams County 4-H will once again offer an Explore the Outdoors SPIN (SPecial INterest) club where youth will meet this spring exploring our Great Outdoors through hiking our local nature preserves. Guest speakers and specialists in their fields will participate to add to the educational experience for our youth. We will provide hands on learning about Birds, Insects, Wildlife, Plants, Trees, Streams, Conservation and Preservation.
Open to any youth 8 years old and in the 3rd grade or 9 years old in any grade and up to 18 years as of January 1st. Registration deadline – April 1, 2023. Sign up today at go.osu.edu/ExploreAdams. 2023 Quality Assurance Dates

All youth planning to exhibit livestock at the 2023 Adams County Junior Fair must attend Quality Assurance or have tested out a minimum of 45 days prior to the start of the fair.

Members may also use the online Youth Quality Care of Animals program for a cost of $12. Visit yqcaprogram.org to complete the online course and test. Please be sure to send a copy of your certificate to watters.92@osu.edu to ensure you receive credit for this option.

4-H Officer Training & Dance

Adams County 4-H Officer Training and Dance will take place on Friday, March 10 at the Ohio Valley Career & Technical Center. Officer training begins at 6 p.m. with breakout sessions for each office held followed by an officer induction ceremony for all. All current and future 4-H club officers are invited and encouraged to attend!

At 7 p.m. the real fun begins as we crank up the tunes and dance! 4-H Camp Counselors will lead us in all your familiar, favorite, line dances. Clubs are asked to bring a 2 liter of pop and a small door prize to contribute. Popcorn provided by the 4-H Advisory Committee. All Adams County 4-Her’s are welcome to join in the boot scootin’ fun!

Scholarship Applications Due February 24

The Adams County 4-H Scholarship and Chad Downing Memorial Scholarship application is now available!

Applicants must be high school seniors with a minimum 2.5 gpa that have been enrolled in 4-H for at least four years, including the current and immediate past year. A completed application, current high school transcript including gpa, and a letter of reference from an Adams County 4-H volunteer that is not a relative are required to apply.

The number of 4-H scholarships vary each year depending on the success of the annual fundraiser and range from $500 – $1,000. Five Chad Downing Memorial Scholarships in the amount of $500 and two $1,000 Burley Growers scholarships will be awarded. Scholarships are paid upon proof of completion of the first semester or quarter of post-secondary education or training following high school graduation. Adams County 4-H Scholarship deadline is Friday, February 24 by 4 p.m.
