Teen Winter Retreat Registrations Due Jan 31

Teen Winter Retreat at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp will be held on Saturday, February 3 – Sunday, February 4. Teens ages 13-18 are invited to attend this fun-filled overnight adventure where they can relax and spend time wiht 4-H friends from across southeastern Ohio.

4-H Camp Counselor Applications Available

Applications for 4-H Camp Counselors are available now!  Must be at least 14 years old as of January 1st to apply.  Counselors will be responsible for completing counselor training including some onsite hours. Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp Counselor College will be held on March 23 and 24, 2024 and is mandatory for first year counselors and strongly encouraged for all counselors.

Interested teens should apply online at https://go.osu.edu/ALPCounselorApp.  Applications are due February 1st.  First time counselors must include two personal references that are not family members. Applicants should include and email address and phone number where they may be contacted.

Registration is now open for Making eXtreme Counselors, a state-wide training held at the Ohio 4-H Center February 24-25 that will apply towards the required hours.  Find out more at http://go.osu.edu/mxc. Must contact Kristy or Barbie to register no later January 29.

Spring Fling April 22-23, 2023

Spring Fling registration is open! Youth in grades 3rd – 6th are invited to experience many of the best parts of camp at an overnighter at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp on April 22 & 23. Campers will hike, craft, dance, and attend campfire (weather permitting). Register before April 14th at go.osu.edu/CantersSpringFling.

Camp registration deadlines are almost here. Don’t miss out on the best summer ever at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp!

Youth finishing grades 3-5 are invited to join us May 31 – June 3 for Adams, Brown, Lawrence, Meigs, Pike Beginner Camp. Campers should register at http://go.osu.edu/ABLMPBeginner. Registration deadline is May 16. Adams County 4-Her cost $145, non-4-H cost $175.

Youth finishing grades 6-8 are invited to Canter’s Cave from June 12-15 for ABLMP Junior High Camp! Registration is at http://go.osu.edu/ABLMPJrHigh. Register before June 1 to secure your bunk! Adams County 4-Her cost $145, non-4-H cost $175.

Cloverbud Overnight – June 11-12. Register at https://go.osu.edu/Cloverbud22 before June 1. An adult must accompany the Cloverbud for the duration of camp. Adams County 4-Her cost is $40 for the Cloverbud and their adult.

Teen Camp – June 24-27. Register for Teen Camp at https://go.osu.edu/TeenCamp. Adams County 4-Her cost is $150, non 4-H cost is $180.

Adams County 4-H members automatically receive a $20 camp scholarship courtesy of the Adams County Advisory Committee and funded by our annual candy sales. This year every camper that registers will receive a 2022 Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp t-shirt!

If you would like to bunk with another camper, please reach out to them ahead of registering to coordinate. You will be choosing cabins using the online registration. Payment is due to the Extension office by the registration deadline to secure your camper’s place at camp. Cloverbud Camp payments will be collected through the Jackson County Extension Office.

Be sure to check the email provided during registration for additional information about your specific camp.

The cost of Beginner and Junior High camp is $165 for 4-Hers and $175 for non 4-Hers. Adams County 4-H members will automatically receive a $20 discount courtesy of the Adams County Advisory Committee and funded by our annual candy sales, making their cost $145. This year every camper that registers will receive a 2022 Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp t-shirt!

Adams County 4-H Kids College

Kids College classes are filling up! Choose from Archery, Art, Cake Decorating, Fishing with Phipps, Food Fun, or STEM and complete project work, learn more about pre-fair judging, and leave with supplies to help complete your project. Cost is just $10. Register before April 15 at http://go.OSU.edu/KidsCollege22. Youth must be a 4-H project member to attend but do not have to be enrolled in the project area they choose to explore. Kids College is sponsored by Southern State Community College.

Explore the Outdoors SPIN Club

Explore the Outdoors with our newest SPIN (SPecial INterest) Club! This club will hike and explore many of our local natural areas joined by a terrific line up of guest speakers. Spring is here which means summer is just around the corner and summer brings with it 4-H Camp! Adams County 4-H Camp dates are set and planning has begun.

Dates for 2022 include:

Spring Fling, grades 3-6 – April 29 – 30

Beginner Camp, grades 3-5 – May 31 – June 3

Cloverbud Overnight, grades K-2, June 11-12

Junior High Camp, grades 6-8 – June 12-15

Special Needs Camp – June 17-19

Teen Camp, grades 9-12 – June 24-27

STEM Camp, grades 5-7 – June 29-July 1

We want to make sure that everyone that wants to go to camp has the opportunity. With that in mind the Adams County 4-H Advisory Committee is once again offering 4-H Camp Scholarships! Applications are available on the website or by stopping by the Extension Office. If you are a first time camper you should apply for the Camper of the Month scholarship. If you have been to camp before but need some assistance to get back, complete the Stan Harrison Family application.

Members can also participate in the Individual Fundraiser to raise money for camp! This year members have the opportunity to sell Pearl Valley Cheese. Order forms are available in the Extension Office. The 4-H Advisory Committee will collect these orders on April 11. Members are credited for all profits from the items they sell and can use the funds towards camp or other educational opportunities through 4-H. Ask your advisor or call the office for more information.
