National Teach Ag Day
Thursday, September 19 is National Teach Ag Day, a holiday devoted to the promotion of the agricultural education profession. If you’re an agriscience education major, we encourage you to share on social media why you chose your major and future profession. Use the hashtag #ACELatOSU and #TeachAg.

Student Veteran & Employer Networking Reception on September 18
All students with a military background are encouraged to attend as this is a great opportunity to connect with and meet with numerous hiring organizations across multiple industries.
Currently over 20 employers have registered to attend this event. Many of the employer representatives are veterans themselves and are interested in meeting with student veterans to explore opportunities and support their career search.

Apply to Join Towers Agricultural Honorary
Towers Agricultural Honorary is currently accepting applications for membership for the Autumn 2019 semester. It was founded in 1952 to establish an organization to honor individuals in agricultural fields demonstrating high levels of scholarship, strong leadership skills, and high moral character. Any student in The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences who is enrolled in at least their third academic semester, has earned an accumulative point hour ratio of 3.00, and has proven himself/herself outstanding in at least one extracurricular activity is eligible for membership. Throughout the year, Towers’ members are involved in a variety of group activities and events such as our Induction Ceremony, quarterly blood drives, and our Member/Mentor recognition reception.

Suicide Prevention Services Hotline Seeking Volunteers
The Suicide Prevention Hotline is available every day to help individuals in our community who are in crisis, having thoughts of suicide, or need a good listener. Volunteers are needed in order to provide this service to the Franklin County community 24/7, 365 days a year.
As a volunteer, you will be trained in communication skills, problem-solving, risk assessment, and crisis intervention. You will also learn about local resources and programs that can help our callers find treatment options, food assistance, and more.

Panama: Through the Lens of AgriCulture, Sustainability and Diversity (April 29-May 10, 2020)
This course is designed to give students a different perspective on agriculture and other economic sectors that influence food, fiber, and fuel. Students will also have the opportunity to explore culture outside of the classroom and view, first-hand, food and production based on varying available natural resources, socioeconomic status and needs of the region and/or country.

The Ohio State Student Farm was started back in 2017 under the mission of creating a learning, living laboratory dedicated to restorative agriculture, social justice, student research, and growth. Located on Waterman Farms, we grow using organic methods on 4-acres. In our production we have mixed vegetables, an agroforestry plot, cover crops, bees and pollinator habitat, and student growing plots. Each week we hold a market on campus, weekly meetings with the Student Growing Collaborative (Thursday 6-7pm), and weekly workdays (Sunday 10am-12pm).
