Wheel Spacing

For the arm design research and development we tested how wheel spacing effects the AEV. We did three trials with the wheels spaced far apart from each other and then three trials with the wheel close to each other. The graphs below show our results.

The all three trials for both configurations were ran with the same code. These results show that the spacing of the wheels has little to no effect on the performance of the AEV. The max speed of the wide spaced wheels configuration was 1.03 m/s and it traveled 4.29 meters. The ma speed of the close spaced wheel configuration was also 1.03 m/s and it traveled 4.35 meters. While the close spaced wheel configuration did travel a slightly farther, it was very minor. We do not believe that this difference is significant enough to be considered important in our designs going forward with the project.
