Who Attended: Elizabeth Medina, Abby Schwaderer, Paul Cudnoch, Norman Guo
Meeting Goal: Finish code for performance test one and complete performance test one.
Current Tasks: Complete the code for the performance test, and run the AEV several times prior to the performance test to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Meeting Summary: We continued to work on the code for the AEV performance test but like last time, we kept facing inconsistencies with our code. However, we came to find that we should have been using distance to tell the AEV how long to run for instead of time, since we also told that using time will lead to inconsistencies since there are variables that affect how long it takes the AEV to get to a certain location that are constantly changing with each run. Despite this, we were still able to complete the performance test successfully.
Tasks to Be Completed:
Finalizing The Code and Completing The Performance Test One: Paul Cudnoch, Norman Guo,  Abbey Schwaderer, Elizabeth Medina

What’s Next:

R&D Oral Presentation (3/21/19)

Meeting Goal: Starting the process of testing AR&D 3 which we chose to test the servo motor on our AEV to aid with braking.
Current Tasks: The whole group worked together to find a configuration that would be best and not interfere with the rest of AEV and the track.
Meeting Summary: The team worked in finding an appropriate configuration for the AEV which was the main focus of the meeting. We faced difficulties in making sure the servo motor doesn’t touch the track or interfere with the configuration with the rest of the AEV. After testing various configurations, which included trying to lengthen the arm of the servo motor in to assure it hits the wheel, we ultimately decided to place the servo motor at the back the AEV’s arm.

Tasks to Be Completed:
Servo motor configuration: Paul Cudnoch, Norman Guo,  Abbey Schwaderer, Elizabeth Medina

Program for servo motor: Norman Guo

What’s Next:

Progress Report 3 (4/04/19): Norman Guo, Abbey Schwaderer, Elizabeth Medina,  Paul Cudnoch

Decisions:  In regards to the AEV, the servo motor will be placed at the back of the AEV arm so it can be close to one of the wheels and not interfere with the trach or the rest of the AEV.

Who Attended: Elizabeth Medina, Abby Schwaderer, Paul Cudnoch, Norman Guo
Meeting Goal: Completing A R&D 3 testing of the servo motor.
Current Tasks: In order to complete testing by end of class, the group worked together to solve any previous issues and adjusted the code as needed for the servo motor to run properly on the track.
Meeting Summary: Since the configuration that would be used had been found in the previous meeting, this meeting was focused on adjusting the code for the AEV to run properly on the track with the newly added servo motor. However, once we got the code to work as it should, when trying to collect data from the run, we noticed that data wasn’t being collected properly. After asking for help from the staff, and changing our circuit board, we found the issue to be in our MATLAB code and were able to get the needed data in the following trial.

—————————————————————————————

Date/Time/Location: 4/08/19, 3:00 – 3:55, Hitchcock Hall

Who Attended: Elizabeth Medina, Abby Schwaderer, Paul Cudnoch, Norman Guo

Meeting Goal: Work on Arduino Code for AEV final performance test.

Current Tasks: Everyone in the group worked together on the code, brainstorming on ways to change the code to increase efficiency and functionality to assure it meets the guidelines of the performance test.

Meeting Summary: Throughout the meeting, we used trial and error to continuously test our code with the AEV in order to know whether changes needed to made and where they should be made. Most of the adjustments were from deciding how much power the AEV needed to get to the top of the incline with the load and how long it needed to run for. The additional weight of the load increased the amount of power needed and decreased the distance the AEV had to run for, due to the coasting the AEV would do because of the increased speed. Although we were not able to finalize the code for the performance test during this meeting, we were able to make adjustments to the code that will be ready to be testing during the next meeting.

Tasks to Be Completed:

Prepare Arduino Code for Final Performance Test :  Paul Cudnoch, Abbey Schwaderer, Norman Guo, Elizabeth Medina

Date/Time/Location: 4/10/19, 3:00 – 3:55, Hitchcock Hall
Who Attended: Elizabeth Medina, Abby Schwaderer, Paul Cudnoch, Norman Guo
Meeting Goal: Finalize Arduino code for the final performance test.
Current Tasks: In order to complete the performance testing by the end of class, the group worked together to solve any previous issues and adjusted the code as needed to make sure the AEV met the guidelines for the performance test
Meeting Summary: The team expected to be able to complete the final performance test during this lab but due to the lack of time and continued inconsistencies with our AEV on the track, we had to postpone the final testing until the next lab. There were many cases with our code where one part of the code would translate to the AEV’s actions on the track without fault but after continued testing, the AEV wouldn’t perform the same, making it seem as though we changed the code even though we didn’t.

Tasks to Be Completed:
Arduino Code/AEV testing and trouble-shooting:  Paul Cudnoch, Norman Guo,  Abbey Schwaderer, Elizabeth Medina

What’s Next:

Date/Time/Location: 4/11/19, 3:50 – 5:15, Hitchcock Hall

Who Attended: Elizabeth Medina, Abby Schwaderer, Paul Cudnoch, Norman Guo

Meeting Goal: Complete Arduino code and  final performance test.

Current Tasks: Everyone in the group worked together on the code, brainstorming on ways to change the code to increase accuracy and consistency to assure it meets the guidelines of the performance test.

Meeting Summary: Similar to the previous lab, our group (along with others) faced inconsistencies with the AEV’s performance on the track. Despite this, our group did our best to get the AEV ready for testing while also trying to hypothesize what might be causing these inconsistencies. Our primary hypothesis was that the battery was running out of power too quickly, so the more we ran the AEV to test the code, the less power the AEV would have, forcing us to continuously have to edit the code to match the power of the AEV. However, since the battery’s quality/charge is out of our control, it made it all the more draining on the teams moral. However, we were still able to come together and get the AEV to perform almost perfectly for our final test resulted in an almost perfect score on the test.
