Sales Pitch

Team R from P&C Scott Worldwide has meticulously crafted an advanced energy vehicle over the course of the lab that, we believe, accurately targets the needs of the citizens that reside in the greater Columbus area. It is our hope that we can join hands with the Smart City of Columbus to continually pursue the overall goal of making our city and community as efficient as possible.

Design: Team R maintained a philosophy of limiting weight while keeping a simplistic design which would in theory lead to the most consistency in the AEV’s performance. Instead of adding surplus weight to the vehicle, the team created a design which minimized weight and increased speed. This allows for passengers to travel to their destination in a quick and safe manner.

Cost: The capital cost of our AEV is $151,861.  This cost is comprised of the parts to make and assemble the AEV.  The final cost of the AEV was $581,901.18. This cost is slightly over the budget; however, the team intends to research more ways to decrease the cost and increase affordability. Despite being slightly over budget, the group attributes the higher cost with increased safety and a faster vehicle.

Energy: The average energy usage for one run during the final performance testing was 282.82 J.  Our energy consumption is significantly less than other teams. We aim to provide the most efficient, yet quick form of transportation.  The average time it took for our vehicle to travers the track was 48.87 seconds. The numbers demonstrate the sustainability and effectiveness of our advanced energy vehicle.

Safety: Team R has prioritized the safety and well-being of the passengers. Our advanced energy vehicle has consistently avoided collision and derailing from the track. This led to the team receiving zero safety violations over the course of the lab. Moreover, our vehicle is able to routinely pick up and drop off passengers at the loading docks.
