Tidal energy is an alternative energy source that has not reached its full potential yet. It is a green alternative that does not produce any direct pollutants or greenhouse gases into the environment unlike fossil fuels. Tidal energy is completely renewable and does not require extended efforts to install and use!
Tidal energy is also very predictable as an energy source. The movement and predicted movements of the tides are constantly being studied. Since the 1850’s individuals have been studying tide movements in order to navigate ships and plan the most effective transportation routes.1 The ability to study these tidal movements has progressed through history allowing for accurate predictions to be made on a daily basis. With this knowledge, tidal energy could be tracked to determine the most effective locations and means to implement the type of energy worldwide.
As shown in the image below², many large scale currents and streams have already been identified. These could be used in the future of tidal energy.
