The AEV was also consistent once some changes to the layout were made. It made it through the first gate and connected to the caboose consistently which made it possible to spend some time making slight changes to the code which made the AEV more energy and time efficient. The AEV was also small which helped it not run into anything making it more consistent and much safer.
Group O’s AEV for the final performance test only used 107.961 joules of energy. Which calculated into a total energy cost of $178,500. The AEV completed the test in 43 seconds which gave it a time costs of $154,000. That combined with the $132,440 for capital costs the final cost for the AEV ended under-budget, costing only a total of $465,439.
