currently interning with Hoffman Corriedales in Rockham, South Dakota.

Hoffman Corriedales is a sheep and cattle farm that specializes in Corriedale sheep and have raised many champions. Faith’s responsibilities include working with 350 head of Corriedale sheep and 450 head of commercial Angus cattle. This summer she has been fitting sheep, processing calves, and baling hay. Other daily tasks include feeding and general running of equipment.

Her advice to future students is to never be afraid to take chances and step out of their comfort zones. Faith says, “Don’t underestimate yourself; you could miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime.”

It’s time to fill out your CFAES scholarship application if you haven’t already!  The deadline is fast approaching: February 15, 2021!  While you are still able to apply after that date, you will only be considered for additional funds should they become available.  This means you need to apply by the February 15^th deadline in order to have the best possible chance to receive scholarship gift money for the 2021-2022 academic year.  Here are a few tips for filling out the CFAES scholarship application.

Use the Correct Student ID Number!
When filling out your scholarship application, be sure to double check that you’ve typed in your student ID (9-digit number, usually beginning with 500 if you’ve enrolled in the past few years, found on your BuckID and the email you received after you submitted your application) correctly.  Your information is categorized electronically by this number, so if you accidentally type the number wrong, your application may not be processed correctly, if at all.

Use the Campus You Will be Attending in the Fall!
Make sure you’re selecting the correct location you’ll be attending NEXT FALL.  If you are starting your classes at ATI next fall or if you are a continuing student at ATI, make sure you select ATI/Wooster. If you are transitioning to Columbus in Autumn 2021 (after summer), you need to select the Columbus campus.  Many of our scholarships are based on which campus you’ll be attending.  If you select the wrong campus, you will not be in the correct selection pools, and any scholarships you have been awarded may be removed due to location.

Be Concise and Efficient When Writing!
When answering essay questions, there is a 300-word limit.  This means you need to be concise and efficient when answering.  For example, you may be answering a question about why you’ve chosen your major. Rather than tell a long story with a great deal of detail, give a few background details and focus on how that experience has impacted your major selection.

Focus on Highlights!
You may be asked to list accomplishments or achievements in a particular area of your life, such as volunteerism or 4-H.  Focus on recent highlights, or those that have had the greatest impact on your life.  If you list too much, it’s difficult for those reviewing to focus on your recent successes.

We are so proud of the 132 Ohio State ATI/Wooster Campus Buckeyes who were named to the Dean’s List for the Autumn 2020 semester!

Ohio State ATI’s dairy facility and programs offer students so many opportunities! From hands-on experiences caring for the animals, and learning management techniques, to visiting other dairies on field trips, our students gain a wide understanding of the dairy industry. At Ohio State ATI we offer two dairy programs to cater to students’ different career and educational goals.  First our Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Dairy Cattle Production and Management offers students the opportunity to earn an Ohio State University degree in two years and then move into the industry. Our Associate of Science (AS) in Animal Sciences with a Dairy Specialization is designed for students whose educational goals include earning a bachelor’s degree. We encourage you to schedule a visit to discuss what option may be best for you!

The following 45 Ohio State ATI students received their American Degree as part of the 93rd National FFA Convention! These students have demonstrated the highest levels of commitment to FFA! We are so proud of your accomplishments! Congratulations!

Ohio State ATI offers both an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Horse Production and Management and an Associate of Science (AS) in Animal Sciences with a Horse Specialization. The AAS degree is built for students to complete their two years at Ohio State ATI and then move into the industry. The AS degree is built for students who want to make the transition to the Columbus campus of The Ohio State University and complete a bachelor’s degree. These different degrees make it possible for students to obtain their different education and career goals! At Ohio State ATI, we are proud to provide our students with hands-on experiential learning opportunities! Our swine facilities are no different. Our students are out working with the animals every day and gain experience in every aspect of the industry!  If you are interested in learning about swine check out our Livestock Production and Management degree or our Animal Sciences degree with a swine specialization. You can always schedule a visit to learn more about any particular program!

Ohio State ATI’s library is all about finding ways to help students succeed academically. Our library team of Kathy Yoder, Kris Purdy and Abagail Burkey have a combined 37 years at ATI and truly love helping our students. Their biggest advice for a prospective student is, “Don’t be shy about asking questions. That is why we are here. We love helping students figure out what they really need.”

We are really proud of our new beef teaching, research, and outreach facility which was completed in 2020. It joins our beef handling facility which was designed by animal behaviorist Dr. Temple Grandin! Our beef facilities are great for both animal welfare and student learning.
