Southwest Ohio Beef Quality Assurance
Join OSU Extension Clinton County, Clinton County Farm Bureau and Wilmington College for the Southwest Ohio Beef Quality Assurance Training! This training will take place on November 27, 2023, from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the Wilmington College Academic Farm. There is a $10 fee to attend, and dinner is provided. 2023 Forages for Horses
Beginning August 30, 2023, Ohio State University Extension will be offering Forages for Horses- a virtual course for equine managers. The course will utilize a combination of live webinars on Zoom with equine and forage experts, along with an in-depth online course accessed through the platform Scarlet Canvas. The Forages for Horses program is a collaboration between Ohio State University Extension, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service, Ohio Department of Agriculture, and the Ohio Forage and Grasslands Council.
Each webinar will be offered live on Zoom at 7 P.M. and feature presentations in a 60-minute span. Attendees will be able to interact with the speakers and ask questions in real-time. Once registered, attendees will be granted access to the full online course including the live-webinars, webinar recordings, and complementary resources, which includes a digital copy of the full class manual. Participants that attend all four webinars will have the opportunity to earn a certificate of completion.

“Straight from the Horse’s Mouth” a Q&A session with experts will follow each webinar until 8:30 PM.
The Forages for Horses course utilizes Scarlet Canvas (which is OSU’s platform for online learning) to house additional videos, presentations, articles, and digital access to the traditional course manual. For best performance, Canvas should be used on the current or first previous major release of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any other device with a modern web browser.
Cost of the course is $75. Registration includes access to all online content through August 30, 2024. Current and new members of the Ohio Forage and Grasslands Council are eligible for a $15 discount on registration. You may still register after the live webinars have occurred.

2023 Cloverbud Day Camp
Brown County’s 2023 Cloverbud Day Camp registration is now OPEN! Cloverbud Day Camp will be on Tuesday, JULY 25, 2023, from 9:00am-2:30pm. This year’s theme is Digging for Dinosaurs and is open to both 4-H and non-4-H members. Registration is now open and can be completed by clicking here. Registration will remain open until 4:30pm on July 17, 2023. 4-H members will be required to pay $15 and non-4-H members will be charged $20 to attend. See the flyer below for additional details.
Brown County Master Gardener Training Class
Calling all gardeners! The Brown County Master Gardener Volunteers are currently accepting new volunteer applications. The Master Gardener Program works with county Extension personnel to provide educational services to the community. These services include hosting seminars, providing garden activities, as well as other horticulture activities. The Brown County Master Gardeners are looking for people who want to learn more about plants and gardening, eager to participate in the practical and intensive training programs, enjoy sharing knowledge with others, and you have the time to attend training and serve your community as a volunteer educator. To become a Master Gardener, you must:
- Be accepted into the Master Gardener program by completing the volunteer application.
- Complete the formal training provided by The Ohio State University Extension. Training is approximately 50 hours along with receiving a 70% or better on all quizzes and exams.
- Complete 50 volunteer hours on projects that are pre-approved by the Master Gardener coordinator. (The volunteer time must be completed within one calendar year after their formal training.
The training does require pre-registration and a fee of $200 in addition to the cost of a background check. Pre-registration closes May 17, 2023 and can be found here.

Food Preservation Five Webinar Series
Warmer weather is a good indicator that it is time to start preserving food. Beginning in April, Ohio State University Extension’s Food Preservation Team is hosting 5 FREE webinars on what you need to know about food preservation! These five (5) webinars will take place from 12:00pm-12:30pm every other Tuesday beginning April 11, 2023, and ending on June 6, 2023. Topics covered include the Top 5 Considerations for Preserving Food, Canning: Water Bath, Canning: Pressure, Freezing, Drying and Freeze Drying. There is no cost for participants to attend. Farming for Profit Workshop led by Dave Pratt
Take your farm/ranch management skills to the next level! Join Dave Pratt on Saturday April 8, 9am-4pm at the Greenacres Arts Center (8400 Blome Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45243) for insights of managing your farm or ranch. People wishing to attend will need to pay $30 and pre-register by April 1, 2023. Participants will receive information on how to transform your farm from a pile of assets and a collection of jobs into a business, financial planning for ranches, sustainable grazing practices, interactive activities and hands-on exercises, to apply what you’ve learned and networking with fellow producers.
