Saturday help needed! Looking for an optometry student available for working Saturdays at a thriving independent private practice located just north of campus in the trendy neighborhood of Clintonville. Responsibilities would be supporting existing staff roles including optician, receptionist, and technician duties as needed. This would be a fantastic opportunity for any student looking for private practice experience. Pay rate is $16/hour and Saturday hours are 9:30-2:00.
A little about our practice: Eyes on High was started by three optometrist friends: Dr Karen Kloman, Dr Melissa Bennett, and Dr David Bennett in 2014 as a “cold start” practice. We’ve been busy and growing ever since! Our team is patient service driven and passionate about eye care. We’ve been a Practice Based extern site for Opt IV students since 2017 and love taking the opportunity to teach whenever possible. Recent technology we’ve added to our practice includes an Oculus Dry Eye analyser, Optos Daytona, and OptiLight IPL.
Please email Dr Karen Kloman at karen.kloman@gmail.com if interested. We look forward to speaking with you!”
Thank you! Jenn Mattson, OD”
“Central Ohio Eyecare is looking for a student or two to hire as Optometric Assistants. We have a longstanding private practice near campus with a second location in Powell.
Duties will center around preparing patients for examinations by gathering health history information and using our diagnostic instruments. They will also become familiar with ophthalmic optics and eyeglass sales. Other duties may include helping with contact lens training and answering the phone for scheduling appointments.
Experience is not necessary but can be an advantage. We are looking for someone who is going to be good with patients-friendly, outgoing, and willing to learn.
Ideally, we would like to find someone that is available to work on Friday 8am to 4:30pm, and/or alternating Saturday mornings 8am to 11:30am. Summer availability would be great as well.
We are flexible with current academic schedules.
Please have anyone interested reach out with a cv/resume to perry.1891@osu.edu
As a side note, we have employed Pre-Optometry students over the past 30 years and all of those interested in the profession have been accepted into Optometry school. This is a great opportunity not too far from the campus area. I was one of those students at one point, and it helped a lot with my transition into the first year of Optometry school.”

“Hello,
My name is Scott Hanes, and I’m a 2015 OSU College of Optometry graduate looking for part time help at my office.
I’m currently the leaseholder at the optometry office in Costco located in Dublin/Plain City and I need someone to work the front desk and pretest patients for their eye exams on Saturdays. I think this a great opportunity for pre-optometry students to get experience in the industry without interfering with their studies.
I currently have the job posted on Handshake asJob #6349992, but I’d like to reach out to students before posting the job publicly. If you or someone else in the club is looking for relevant part-time work, please have them reach out to me through email at this address or apply through Handshake. I’d be happy to discuss the position further with anyone who is interested.
Thank you for your time!
